Why to visit

Heading to Cotonou, Africa? Let Smartfares.com help you get there affordably. Easy to use and always reliable, Smartfares offers the lowest guaranteed prices for travel around the world. Smartfares.com has forged relationships with a variety of airlines and wholesalers around the globe, allowing us to offer our clients an array of cheap travel options not found elsewhere. What’s more, the site is customer friendly and offers top-notch customer service.

Let Smartfares get you to centrally located, equatorial Cotonou. Visit Boulevard St. Michel, (this sentence doesn’t make much sense without the section you wanted to delete – I personally would not delete “and take in”) the hub of activities along this busy street. Other sites to visit in Cotonou include the National University of Benin; Cotonou Cathedral, also known as the Notre Dame des Apotres; and the Ancien Pont Bridge. Once you’ve explored the city, check out nearby Ganvie, a fairy-tale like city built on stakes balanced over Lake Nokoué. Established in the sixteenth century to keep out the Fon warriors, who were forbidden from entering water, Ganvie is a lovely place to spend a day. From Cotonou, you can also take a trip to Porto Novo where you’ll find many museums and the royal palace. A short drive to the west and you’ll find Quidah, a port city that is rich with history. To make all this travel convenient, Cotonou is a great place to make visa and other further travel arrangements. If you’re traveling during the months of April through July or September and October, don’t forget your rain gear!
